Reflect on how your cultural heritage shapes your daily expectations, inspired by "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid. Wesley C

My cultural heritage shapes my expectations just like in "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid, but the tasks that I have to do are a little different. Instead of doing something like hanging up laundry, I have to take care of my dog and do the dishes, for example. I also have to take out the trash and do other various chores. Culturally, all of these chores are done by the teenagers in the family.  In class, we read and discussed the passage "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid.  I learned how to critically think about a passage of reading and how to read intelligently. It's random, but I want to know how far I can push myself physically to get the maximum distance possible before I start to deteriorate due to age. My other big question is where am I going to work when I grow up. Today in class we read "I, Too" by Langston Hughes, and found the aspects of cultural identity. This helped me to learn about the struggles and triumphs of black americans before the civil rights act.
