Reflect on how your cultural heritage shapes your daily expectations, inspired by "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid. Wesley C

My cultural heritage shapes my expectations just like in "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid, but the tasks that I have to do are a little different. Instead of doing something like hanging up laundry, I have to take care of my dog and do the dishes, for example. I also have to take out the trash and do other various chores. Culturally, all of these chores are done by the teenagers in the family.

In class, we read and discussed the passage "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid.

I learned how to critically think about a passage of reading and how to read intelligently. I will use this in the future at jobs and at college.
