Write about a time when you realized that your perception of a particular food was based on a stereotype. Explain what the food was, what you originally believed about it, and where that belief came from. Then describe how your perspective changed after experiencing or learning more about the food. Be sure to include specific details about the moment your thinking shifted and what you learned from that experience.
Man, what a loaded question. I'm not so sure about times that I specifically had a stereotype about a food that wasn't based on facts that the food just sucks. For example, vegetables are horrible because they all taste rancid. Maybe I haven't tried vegetables that are cooked correctly? I don't know, but salad and vegetables suck. However, I can in fact recount times that my FRIENDS have had this experience...
About half of my friends will forever to the grave say that McDonald's is one of the worst things to happen to America. They insist that McDonald's is super unhealthy for you and that it is made out of slop. This belief is fabricated solely from the other people who say this propaganda as a way to make everyone hate McDonald's. It's really no more unhealthy than OTHER fast food places (I'm looking at you Chick-Fil-A), but other places tend to have foods healthy options (like some salad) but the people at McDonald's know that people (in their right minds) are not eating fast food because they want to look like supermodels and keep their calories as close to zero as they can. People eat McDonald's for the fast and good tasting food. If you say that none of the food tastes good, you're lying. The real question is are you a nugget, burger, or other enjoyer. Anyways, my friends on the way to Camp Rainey Mountain in 2019 were DISMAYED to have to stop at McDonald's because it was the only option. I was elated (along with the driver who is also named Wesley) but everyone else was doing a ton of crynin'. It wasn't 20 minutes later everyone was sitting there silently enjoying the heck out of the absolute outstanding food we were served. They told me their perspective changed greatly because the food wasn't half as bad as they thought it would be. Their thinking changed because of my reasoning that I listed earlier. Another thing that grinds my gears is how good everyone thinks Chick-Fil-A is. I mean it is nothing to write home about. It's the most mediocre thing ever I mean seriously it does not deserve the love and attention it gets. The portions are small and the workers always say "my pleasure" as if they're better than everyone else or something. No, Madison, you taking my chicken order at 8:30 at night after a GrubHub shift is not your "pleasure" you're just lying to me and yourself. (the name was generic I'm not actually calling out anyone named Madison). That's really the last thing I like to have happen after one of my shifts too. Shifts can be really long and frustrating to the point my head melts a hole in the roof of my car. You know how it is, rude people, traffic, getting percentages on the app ruined by some ridiculousness, having to deliver to apartment complexes, tip baiters, dude some shifts burn me all the way out for some lady to say "my pleasure". I mean I can't get mad at her, the company forces her to do it, it's not her fault. I much prefer Jason's deli, I order my food and sit there and someone brings it to me and we barely exchange a peep. One thing that I do appreciate about my job is that it's slowly making me realize that having road rage is just the most unproductive thing ever. It doesn't matter how mad I get, people aren't going to drive faster and/or get out of the way. It's made me more flexible as a person and I see a lot less direct road rage. Granted I still get really mad at the app sometimes because it's deceptive practices get a little evil. I mean, this one time, it offered me a 4 dollar for 6 mile Taco Bell order. I immediately declined, only the next one I got was one of those "2 order bundles" that payed 12 bucks for 10 miles. I hate that the company uses bundle orders just for the sole purpose of someone unknowingly delivering a low pay order, that's scummy. Turns out, the very first order was the exact taco bell one I just declined. I was really mad at that. I've also almost crashed my car multiple times because of the new order notification sound when I forget to turn it down on the radio. You know what I'm talking about, when I'm just cruising along Lavista and out of nowhere the DINGALINGALINGALINGALLINGALINGLAIGNLAGINAGNAOGINLAGINLAGINLGIN scares the blue dickens out of me for no reason whatsoever. On the bright side, I got my 100th delivery present of a brand-new drink carrier!! That was super nice. Wanna know what isn't nice? That one lady right outside the knob hill neighborhood. I just finished a pick up from Sufi's in Buckhead and I was driving towards druid hills (via roxboro) and I had just passed knob hill neighborhood when I came to a red light. the light turned green and I slowly accelerated. Out of nowhere, some idiot lady walked her entire family of 7 right out in front of me. I slammed the brakes. The dad seemed apologetic and waved and hurried across the intersection with the kids, but the mom stayed behind and stared me down as I sat there frozen, unsure of what to do. She then turned part red devil and got the most hateful expression in her eyes. She started screaming expletives at me and gave me the bird. I hit the gas and got out of there but I was thinking lady you're setting a horrible example for your kids. They're gonna grow up and think it's okay to do that. I hope that lady bites her tongue and then keeps biting it over and over because of the swelling. At the same time, Atlanta is a dangerous place. Obviously I wasn't going to cause her any harm, but what if there was someone she ticked off who had a gun and was crazy? It seems like a bad idea to attack a 2 ton metal machine that could literally have ANYBODY ON THE PLANET EARTH inside, but I guess whatever floats her boat. Man, I'm reading back on this post and it seems like something Foghorn Leghorn would post because of how long it is. If you're reading to this point, I hope you enjoyed.
Today in class we worked on our food presentations
I learned how to effectively make a PowerPoint that conveys what I need it to.
