Reflect on a time when you or someone you know had to choose between fitting in and staying true to their identity; what was gained or lost in that experience?

 One time that I was choosing between fitting in and staying true to my identity was when I was playing football. I could have tried to fit in with the rest of the team and act all tough all the time on the field and goofy in the locker room but I decided I was just gonna be my goofy self even on the field because I enjoy playing football and I realized it wasn't life or death. I think that made my career more successful. The athletic trainer said I was the most wholesome person on the entire team which is exactly what I was going for so it worked out well. 


Today I worked with Alex and Rosario on our project


I learned more about my group members identities and about their personalities. I wasn't a fan of leaving my group with Everest and Jillian and Vincent, but there are other nice people in our class.

 My cultural heritage shapes my expectations just like in "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid, but the tasks that I have to do are a little different. Instead of doing something like hanging up laundry, I have to take care of my dog and do the dishes, for example. I also have to take out the trash and do other various chores. Culturally, all of these chores are done by the teenagers in the family.  In class, we read and discussed the passage "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid.  I learned how to critically think about a passage of reading and how to read intelligently. I will use this in the future at jobs and at college.

Write about a dream that felt real.

 One dream that felt real was when I went to school with no pants on. I had no idea it was happening until everyone was looking at me and I remember feeling super scared. I woke up and I was like how on this planet earth did I straight up forget to put on pants and it was just really confusing. I remember waking up scared thinking it would somehow happen to me in real life even though I knew it would never.  Today in class we finished Fences and worked on our poster. The book was very interesting. Troy ended up dying and the resolution was that Cory went to his funeral.
